Samsung Note9 VIP Kit
– Creating a Lasting Impression
The challenge was to create a lasting impression on industry trendsetters, influencers and executives by providing an engaging unboxing experience that highlights the new features and functionality of Samsung’s newest device launch. With the Galaxy Note9 launch, the goal was to meet a high device activation rate by creating a desirable “surprise and delight” kit design.
In order for these kits to come to life, there are months of ideation and concepting work leading up to the final kit. The process begins with a project brief that kicks off the concepting and ideation work. From here, mood boards are created for the client to select preferred styles, premium finishes, etc. After mood boards are selected, renders are created showing the most “realistic” concept of the kit before moving into the white mock phase and prototyping. This thorough process allows all teams to be aligned on desired end result.
Added a custom microfiber carrying bag to hold phone accessories and cases in order to promote the “Work and Play” theme. Created a pull-out drawer kit to change up the standard “hinge top” or “lift-off lid” used in previous device VIP kit executions.
An organized production, kitting and tracking process is critical to the success of turning around 800+ kits in a few short days while keeping everything secured and organized to ensure the final kits delivered have 100% accuracy. The goal was to turn around an entire division’s VIP kits 24 hours after we received their complete inventory. This process was followed all the way through device activation surveys post launch.
The complete VIP kit was designed to be thoughtful, clean, and polished to ensure the Galaxy Note9 device remained the main attraction during the full unboxing experience.
